Today, the son of a legendary NFL quarterback will begin his professional career.
The Hall of Famer's son will start at quarterback for the Temple Owls on Saturday afternoon.
ESPN's Pete Thamel reports that E.J. Warner, a true freshman quarterback, will start for Temple. He is Kurt Warner's child.
D'Wan Mathis started the first game of the season for Temple. Head coach Stan Drayton opted to bench Mathis for Warner after a terrible performance against Duke and a shaky start against Lafayette.
In place of Mathis, Warner performed admirably, completing 14 of his 19 attempts for 173 yards and two scores. He helped Temple defeat Lafayette.
After Temple's victory in Week 2, Drayton gushed about Warner.According to Drayton, who spoke to The Philadelphia Inquirer, "the way he handled the pressure... he didn't flinch."
He went out there and carried out the offence, didn't attempt to put himself in a different position, and went out there and placed the ball where it belonged.
