Manchin's support plummets following IRA vote
Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV) is in hot water with his constituents in his home state after supporting President Joe Biden's Inflation Reduction Act.
In a poll taken as recently as May, 57% of West Virginians said they approved of Manchin's performance in the Senate.
What's worse for Manchin is that the same survey shows he would lose reelection if he were running against either West Virginia Attorney General Patrick Morrisey or Rep. Alex Mooney.
It's surprising that Manchin would waste his Senate career on something as trivial as the Inflation Reduction Act.
In 2024, it will be difficult for him to convince voters that he helped cut inflation when his flagship piece of legislation actually made the situation worse.
Democratic Senator from Vermont Bernie Sanders announced on Thursday that he would be releasing a letter signed by 59 House Democrats rejecting Manchin's permits arrangement.
